RX-8 owner screwed out of $38122.23
Quote:
I chose my words carefully. I've been scammed by Scott @ Mazsport. It's been two years, and although some months may not be entirely accurate (it's been awhile), I included them so people can get the picture. Fact is, it was taking over 2years, and when I towed the car back, it wasn't even half done.
8/2006 - Scott began calling me up and telling me he's interested in doing 3 rotor swap on my car. He tells me it'll cost $25,000 - $30,000 with all bells & whistles (dry sump, roll cage, turbo, 20b, pushing the engine back & low, etc. etc.). and tells me it will take about 2 MONTHS. I agreed, then paid $10,000 down to "lock down my spot".
9/2006 - I drove the car down to FL and dropped my car off.
10/2006 - I call for an update. They say they're really swamped developing turbo kits & getting ready for some rotary meet. I asked them to send me some photos of what they have for my 3 rotor. Scott is now apparently TOO BUSY to talk to me on the phone for 5 seconds.
11/2006 - I'm now calling probably every 2-3 days and at least once a week because I haven't seen / heard any update for my car. I did talk to Scott once or twice this entire month--he then told me he's building a kick-ass engine with 13b housings & new rotors & new e-shaft.
12/2006 - Scott finally calls me and tells me he needs more money ($15,000) and gives me a deadline date - February/2006. He tells me engine is built and he spent all the money. He then proceeds to tell me to delete some mildly negative comments I've made on my thread about his dragging his ass-- I deleted them.
2/2007 - Scott says engine placement is like a midengine slotcar. Asks me another month to finish the job then asked for $2000 more to make an intake manifold. I pay the $2000 then bought my plane ticket for 3/2006 to tampa, FL to go pick up the car.
3/2007 - The entire week before my flight, Scott is unreachable. Betsey tells me the car's not ready. I scrap my flying plans. Scott then sends me some photos of the engine in the engine bay pretending like nothing happened. It was still snowing in PA and I told myself, I can wait until it stops snowing. Scott asks for more money at this point, and I said we're over budget already, and just finish it.
** at this point, only the engine was in the engine bay--
5/2007 - Scott says manifold took forever, but things are moving along. I request for another deadline, and he says 7/2006, and I buy another plane ticket. He then promises to keep me updated at least once a week, which he does so for ONE week then promptly forgot every single Friday thereafter.
7/2007 - Still not done-- in the meanwhile, I receive some photos of oil pan and turbo to keep me quiet on the forum. He also e-mails me that he'll work on it everyday and will have an update or me every Friday again and again--which never came true.
**at this point, I'm getting pissed off every week with Scott's lack of communication and utter lack of any respect for my time. Betsey would frequently tell me Scott will call after 5pm, makes me wait around until 7-8pm after which I figure out again and again he's not calling.
And this weekly routine continues until his name on the forum is in jeopardy with some posts. He then calls and gives me some fluke deadline, which he denies later on the phone telling me that he NEVER gives a deadline because he doesn't want to disappoint his customers when the date is not kept. I'm thinking this guy is an idiot if he wants me to buy that "argument".
12/2007 - I tell him to just make the car run. I also tell him I don't give a shit what he does to it as long as it runs. He tells me he needs more money and I tell him he's already over budget and asked for an INVOICE to see where the money went. Scott NEVER gives me an invoice--in fact according to him, there has been so much work done on my car that for the past 8 months, he's been working on my invoice.
5/2008 - I started up some thread on the forum, and Scott & Betsey immediately lie to me telling me that my exhaust pipe is finished. Asked me to delete the thread, which I did.
8/2008 - I ask for update, and for 10 months, Scott tells me he's been working on the fuel rail because the upper manifold is too low. I demand an invoice and told him I'd like to tow the car back.
9/2008 - Invoice is still not ready. When the truck driver called to confirm the pick-up, Scott tells him to come back later. I payed re-schedule fee, then demanded that Scott have my car on the truckbed next time truck shows up.
** at the vehicle delivery, I find that my car has been ripped up inside and out. Scott sold LOT of my OEM stuff and ALL my aftermarket engine stuff. Engine mounts weren't even in. Fuel modules, all sensors, fans, coolers, etc. etc. I had are all gone. There's NOTHING after the downpipe which is hitting the subframe incidentally. I call him up immediately and tell him I'll be starting up a thread about this transaction. Scott then immediately tells me that he'll make it right.
10/2008 - Every week, I get the same bullshit from him. First package had shifter knob and a BROKEN fuel pump. I finally receive that invoice he's been working on for past 10 months.
hey and here's what I received (these include the labor):
$800 for PREPARING the car for installs
$7922.83 for MOUNTS & PPF
$12,300 for 20b
$250 for radiator MOUNT
$867.61 for FUEL RAIL (doesn't even have secondary rail)
$850 for USED Rx7 tranny (not rebuilt) with NO shifter & no gear selector linkage
$981.54 for INJECTORS
$1950.91 for "performance clutch"
$3404.28 for INTAKE TUBES!
$2185.26 for EXHAUST MANIFOLD
$3200.80 for Gt42R turbo & v-clamps
$804.00 for OIL PAN
and here's the best part:
$1445.00 for THINKING about some exotic traction control that wasn't even installed or fab'd.
$450 for REMOVING my OWN fuel tank & working fuel pump that I needed (NO replacement in the car)
$675.00 for roll cage design & dynamat that aren't even in the car
then they decided to generously credit me for all aftermarket stuff that they sold off the car (after taking off 30% for their ebay listing service) and applied ALL the credit toward Scott's paycheck WITHOUT my permission. I still haven't heard anything about missing OEM parts or my aftermarket stuff I can still use with 20b.
I'm still waiting for Scott to send me my RX8 oem parts, 20b oem parts, and stuff he charged me for already like the shifter linkage, mounts, etc, which I still don't have. He's dragging it again.
SCOTT, EXACTLY HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BOX UP SOME STUFF I WAS ALREADY CHARGED FOR MORE THAN 2 YEARS AGO AND SEND IT VIA UPS GROUND??? According to him, he's still "unpacking" and still "looking for my stuff". I just had it with his lies and two faced responses on the forum. He tries so hard to appear legitimate on the forum, but many others (myself included) have had horrendous experiences with Mazsport Scott. He will keep giving you excuses of "doing it right takes time" to which I agree to certain extent. But over 1yr for turbo installs and over 2yrs for hacked up uncompleted project that was promised to be done in 2months is pushing it greatly.
I'll attach some photos of what I got AFTER paying Mazsport $38122.23 ON TOP of already fully tuned Greddy turbo 300whp rx8. SCAMMED by Mazsport Scott - RX8Club.com

I am now a Honda guy.
Dee, once again, thank you. This thing is a blast.
I picked up a new daily driver last night. I found a '99 Civic Si on Cleveland Craigslist. If anyone has a Pro-Kit for an EM1, then I need it yesterday! It's a bit of a lowrider

Pros/Cons of Studded Winter Tires?
I need to be able to drive my car this winter, so I'm looking to get some studded winter tires. The narrowest studdable tire I can find in a 16" is a 205, and the narrowest non-studdable is a 195. So I figured why not go with the studs and have better traction in packed snow and ice.
I'm looking for opinions from people that have had both normal winter tires and studded winter tires. Does it make a big difference? Is it worth the $60 extra for the studs?

Last min gsr fun with tsi
well i was out on 60 this evening around 6pm and i'm chillin at the 7/11 light in Barboursville. I had just recently laid into it in 1st and barked 2nd pulling out of Kroger just getting some last second fun out of the ole girl.
I notice a dark blue (i think or green maybe) 1G talon about 4 cars behind me. I pull out from the light easy and i'm sure he heard my raspy ass exhaust but i had the window down listening and i heard him goose it and then heard a greddy type s-ish blow off, so i was like sweet, he probably goosed it trying to get my attention. Well instead of continuing towards the mall i decide to turn up on 64w hoping he'd follow. Now i've done that so many times hoping a fellow mischevious racer will wanna come play but it usually never succeeds..............this time though i found a racer.
I slowed for him to get behind me and as getting on the on ramp he was goosing it behind me so there was no doubt he was ready to play. I go ahead and get the gsr in 2nd and as i'm pulling onto the interstate he guns it and goes to the far lane so i nail it, as i ran out 2nd he had pulled up to my fender, beginning of 3rd he was still creeping and probably got half a fender more before stopping his momentum going into 4th. Halfway through 4th i started pulling a lil and had about 3/4's of a car when i let out at the end of 4th (bout 125ish).
I'm just stoked at this point and hoping we can get a side by side. Luckily we were far enough ahead of traffic that we had time to slow down. I get back to a 50ish roll, he gets next to me, on the first beep he takes off, i set there, he catches on, gets next to me again, i hold up 3 fingers, i can't see him from the dark ass tint he had, i start to beep and he doesn't take off at 1st so i assume he saw my signal. When we go we're pretty much side by side as i hit 3rd, he finally shifts halfway through my 3rd and i start to pull decently and by the time we got back to 125ish i had close to 2 cars. :flex::headbang:
Talk about some fun races. I get back off at 29th st and bare right cause i was gonna pull off and chat and he bares left and beeps. Anybody got a friend in b-ville with a dark blue or green 1G talon with a apexi exhaust and upgraded blow off valve? Thats the only mods i were sure of. Judging from the results i'd say it was just a basic bolt on tsi. It was really clean btw. Wheels almost looked polished. He needs to sign up if anyone knows him.
Man i miss beating this car. John when we gonna run? I gotta get my feelings hurt by the charged Scion before someone buys it, (if they do).

New tires may not be so new-Check this out
If you have not seen this video yet, you might want to take a look at it and then check your tires to see how old they really are. Some of you garage guys may already know this, but I did not. They sell tires as "new" that have been setting on the shelves for 12 to 14 years sometimes, and in turn, the tires, being old, could fail.
Check out this link for more info.

Any tricks to getting a front bumper off a Cobalt?
Well to make a long story short I backed a box truck into a 2007 Cobalt and I need to take it off and put a new one on. Also, I need to replace a headlight and a grille insert where the fog lights are.
Are there any web sites that guide you through this? I just want to make sure I dont break anything else...lol

Possessed Truck & No racing for the Nova
<Long Rant>
Man was woken up by Toby yesterday after having a hang over from the night before, for him to tell me about the street racing at Ft.Gay. I quicky got my stuff together, only to find out the Nova would not fire because of a dead battery. On top of that the other 2 batts I had are also dead. I jump in the truck and headed to Advance where Shorty hooked a brotha up with a sweet ass deal on a Optima Yellow Top (thanks a bunch man!!). :good:
Well I head over and drop of the N2O tank at Tob's and line out 4 gallons of race gas. I get back home only to realize that the Nova's starter solenoid is stuck in the on position due to low voltage drawing to many amps trying to start. (It is fun running around your car trying to get the trunk open to turn off the battery while the starter is still running and nobody is at the wheel!!) I sort out that mess and get the Nova fired and ready to trailer.
I hit U-Haul to snag a trailer and have everything hooked up ready to pull out and the guy does a light check. No good, only had running lights. He won't let me pull off the lot without everything working. :nono: So we unhook the truck and I head back to the house and try to sort out electrical issues. I find a blown fuse, problem solved (not really). This had taken forever because I didn't know the blinker circuit for the trailer was different than that of the truck's lights. By this time it is too late and I'm stuck driving to the track with no racing car.
As me and my buddies head to the track my truck becomes possessed! Literally! :wizard: The passenger side lights start to eriely glow on and off. The central computer begins to reset itself over and over. The radio flashes to the point we were getting sick like the kids who watch Japanese anime cartoons. :bad: And when we turned on the upper map lights in the ceiling they would blink like I hit the turn signals! This is only the begining! :shok:
We finally arrive at the track after the better part of an hour in the rolling light show that was the interior of my truck. No Nova, no tunes, and worried that we are going to be stuck on the side of the road with a truck that we can't figure out what is wrong.
Well I start filming the racing action to relieve myself from the stress. (BTW I was the retard in the camo jacket running the video camera off a monopod. Right next to the cars as they did burnouts - people were like WTF is he doing!)
Anyway the night goes on and I decide to try and fix the truck at the track. This is where it gets weird. My buddy opens the door and some strange ticking begins from under the glovebox. As if a blinker module is going nuts. When the door is open the thing goes ape, yet no smoke! I pull the fuse for the interior lights and all is solved, except for the fact that this fuse is needed to run the heater controls which we desperately need. Back goes the fuse.
Now the tricky part. The heater works only 1 out of every 3 times I turn it on. If we open the any of the truck's doors or turn the dome light on while the heater is turned on the clicking under the dash begins and the blower motor turns off. Note the clicking is not the blower motor it is altogether different. The heater controls flash ER on the dashboard. I forgot to mention when the clicking sound occurs the dome lights flash in time with it. :wizard:
We finally get home with heat in the truck after figuring out the proper combination of what to turn on and when. along with removal of the headunit faceplace to avoid motion sickness due to all the flashing colors. I now get the fun job of figuring out just how much crap is toasted in the truck's electrical. I think I will just forgo that option and get a priest and some holy water as I'm waiting for pea soup to come shooting out the windshield washer jets. :err:

:err:
